Arusha National Park

Overview

Arusha National Park is a scenic and diverse wildlife park located about 45 minutes from Arusha, making it perfect for a day trip or short safari. Covering around 552 km², it features a variety of landscapes including forest, savannah, lakes, and the slopes of Mount Meru, the country’s second-highest mountain. Although it doesn’t have the full Big Five, the park is rich in wildlife such as giraffes (very common), buffalo, zebras, and colobus monkeys, along with over 400 bird species including flamingos around the Momella Lakes. Visitors can enjoy game drives, guided walking safaris, canoeing, and even multi-day trekking on Mount Meru, making it one of the few parks in Tanzania offering such a wide range of activities in a peaceful, less crowded setting.
